Provision of Basic Infrastructure towards Education Is the Key to Development of Nigeria

A School Abandoned by The Government, How Can They Learn!

The availability of infrastructure is one of the great aids to the growth in educational standards of a country, but the statistics has shown that 4 out of 5 schools are without the needed equipments to promote the quality of education in schools. The Federal Government claims to allocate a lot of fund towards the provision of infrastructures to schools yearly yet there hasn’t been any visible action taken to equip these schools especially the public which are mostly just empty buildings with no roofs or chairs, most of the students just play all day because since there aren't any thing to teach with who will bother to wasting time fighting a lost cause.

This is a general problem affecting most third world countries, but my main concern is where the hell do those funds budgeted towards these sectors go to. According to data from UNESCO over 793 million adults are illiterates, a further 67 million children of primary school age are not in school and 72 million adolescents of lower secondary school age are missing out on their rights to be educated. And in Nigeria over 70% of its population are living below the poverty line.
I recently read an article on the importance of education in Nigeria where a notable point was made that the "Education is the key to development and peace" and I couldn't help but feel inspired because if a reasonable percentage of a country's population are Educated, it'll truly contributes to a peaceful developing society which in this case is exactly what Nigeria needs right now with the rate of terrorism in the country. So theres no doubt that if schools are being provided with basic necessities to help provide a better learning environment, the rate of problems facing Nigeria will take a positive turn. But its either the government doesn't share the same point of view or they prioritize their needs more than the country they have sworn to make a better place.
Nevertheless, with the Governments response of levity toward this situation, it has contributed to the ever increasing rate of terrorism, because its quite understandable what these uneducated, illiterate, unemployed and poor Nigerians have been doing with their time, how denying them the right to education can make them reign vengeance on a society they assume careless.
