Protests of Students towards Education

It is no secret that teenagers are about the most rebellious group when it comes to authority, which has been proved to be right with recent riots and protests.
The latest of this protest which involved the students of the Anglican High School in Ekiti State over their failure of the Unified Mock Examination which will determine their passage from SS2 to SS3, students were reportedly angered by the announcement of their repeat of SS2 class, thereby seeing it as a demotion which they responded by going on a rampage protest thereby paralyzing commercial activities in the area for hours.
However, this protest got out of control with the arrival of
the police which led them to hold their principal hostage. The police even went to the extreme by the use of tear has when the situation became more than they had thought of the students. Meanwhile, as far as the students were concerned, they ought not to have failed and even if they did, they ought to be promoted anyways.
The decision which spurred the rampage of the students was made by the Ministry of Education entailing that before a student must be promoted from SS2 to SS3 that he/she must make three credits and three passes out of which English and Mathematics must be among the credits. The ministry which stated that the purpose of this is to set a high and improved standard of the students education. The protest begun after the principal stated this in his announcement on the morning assembly.
These protests has now become a tradition for students all over the country, a peculiar one happened a year ago in Gombe State, where worse fate befell a female teacher and her principal who came to rescue her from her secondary school students, she was murdered and the man brutally beaten while his car was vandalized. The lady who unknowingly flung the Quaran out the window among other books which the students refused to remove as an examination was going on, seeing that she was a Christian the students accused her of desecration of the holy book, therefore justified this by ending her life.
